Design For Obama Book Cover

On page 27 you’ll find my vector poster submission to this very interesting project. The book went on sale today and I encourage everyone to check out some amazing politically inspired design. My piece was a vector based illustration mashing up the phonetic spelling of our President’s name – more cute than anything else.

Annual Reflections

January 2nd, 2009, posted in featured

Hello family and friends-

As was stated by my grandfather over this past Christmas holiday, us Norris’ boys are not always the best at expressing ourselves in the verbal or physical department (although I think we have all made some strides in the right direction).

I would however like to take a moment, in fashion with Alli’s post, to reflect on a few things from this past year.

I have realized just how dynamic my family has become, both direct and extended, and I truly appreciate it.  I am not a perfect person and I don’t have that expectation about anyone that I have ever met or will meet.  We all meet that adversary that gets to us, no matter how big or small it may be  (sorry to end a sentence on a preposition but that may be one of my biggest adversaries!).

Anyways, I have come to respect you all in your own way, and for some reason our differences have become more apparent to me in this past year.  I love you all and hope that these are the things that draw us closer.

Whether it be politics, sports, family, or friends I appreciate the unique prospective each of us brings to the table.

As many of you know I am not a very serious person.  That is not to say that I take things lightly, and I like to think that  I do not hold grudges.  So many things that have seemed trivial to me have become monumental and I sorry to see that.  If I could have it my way I might forever be stuck in the world of Paisley!  Hahah.

So I guess what I am getting at is that as we enter this new year, I truly want to say how honored I am to be part of such a wonderful and gracious group of people, and hope that even though we may not always agree, that we will continue in this world as one family.  One family bounded by respect and appreciation for what we have.

I have seen many a heartache in the prologue of my life, yet I have never experienced true pain beacause I am continually surrounded by the ones I love and care for.

So, as we enter this new year I would like to say how grateful I am for those around me, even though I may not always be the person that you want me to be. For every vice you may find in a person, there are countless virtues.  If you continually bitch about something, it is because you have a reason to care.   And if you continue through life with love in your heart, you will never fail (and for the record I thank my father and grandfather for most of these words of wisdom!)

Haha, sorry about all of these cliches, but I am on my annual reflection so deal with it.

I wish you all the best in the coming year and hope to see much more of you all!  As we say in the Navy “fair winds and following seas!”

Love,

Johnny

My grandmother moved cross country to re-retire here. It’s full circle in a way and I”m loving it.
I decided to work part time. This was relinquishing control from work and giving it back to my family. It was the BEST decision ever.
We began our journey to become debt free!

I’ll keep adding to this but there is a start….
